On a recent trip to the Mississippi Delta Region, Pete and I pasted many of these scenes. I could almost hear the blues singing as we traveled down the back roads of this wonderful area. Finally, before leaving we decided to look for a scene that might resemble some of the past. This scene to me represents to me what once was the normal here. The old homestead near the fields where most labored day after day. You could image the stories this abandoned home could tell. The people who grew up here and the stories they could share. It's all gone now, but somehow continues to live. I used a Canon 1Ds Mark III on a tripod, 17mm,  ISO 100, F 8 combining three different shots to make this HDR image. The moment in time was captured on November 30, 2013 at 11:45 am.

Ghost in the Window http://www.crutchphotography.com/blog/2013/11/ghost-in-the-window St. Augustine WindowSt. Augustine Window

A few years back as I visited St. Augustine, Florida,  I decided to walk the back streets for some interesting architecture, and or, doors & windows. I stumbled upon this window and thought it was very compelling. The rest of the building seemed normal and well cared for. I just couldn't believe this window stood out for its state of depreciation. While adjusting the tripod and camera settings, I could almost swear a shadow moved into the window and out again in just seconds. I was a little bit taken back at first and thought someone had seen me getting ready to snap the shutter and decided to play a joke. I waited and waited with the camera all set for the moment to happen again, but it never did. I finally pushed the shutter at 12:33 P.M. on the 27th of December, 2008, using a Canon 5D, F7.1 at 1/200.

The Story Behind the Photo ! http://www.crutchphotography.com/blog/2013/8/t This story behind the photo has special meaning to me. Meet Dan Dan the Lobsterman of Boothbay Harbor, Maine. One of the finest people I have ever encountered in my travels. I was introduced by a friend that knew I was going to Maine to shoot lighthouses and fishing villages. Little did I know that I would meet such a person as Dan. He and his wife ran a local seafood restaurant in Boothbay Harbor, a tourist type town. It didn't take long to locate him as everyone knew him and his wife. Dan suggested I come along with him on his dory and see the harbor by boat and check his lobster traps. I spent the next four days with my new friend, shooting lighthouses and measuring lobsters in this harbor town. He took me to places and provided some history that I would not have found without him. I took this photo on one our many our trips around the bay. I sent him a 13 x 19, signed and dedicated copy, which I understand still hangs in his restaurant. Sadly, about 2 years later, I heard of his passing from the same friend that introduced me to him. RIP Dan...... Thanks for the memories.

The Story Behind the Photo ! http://www.crutchphotography.com/blog/2013/8/the-story-behind-the-photo On our first full day of shooting on our recent trip to Cape Cod, we decided to try to locate some lighthouses along the way. This is the third lighthouse of the day and we wanted to shoot this and move on the Plymouth, Ma by night fall. When we got here the sun was perfect and the lighthouse was gorgeous. This moment came at July 27, 2013 at 2:34 P.M. using a Canon 1Ds Mark III, combining three exposures for the high dynamic range result, F5 1/640, ISO 100, 14mm lens. Color correction in Photoshop CS 6.

Great Time in Cape Cod http://www.crutchphotography.com/blog/2013/8/great-time-in-cape-cod

Well, despite the rain we had a great time in Cape Cod. Lot's of Lighthouses and boatyards. We spent a total of 7days on the road and covered a lot of miles. We had a couple of Ipads with us and their turn by turn gps is the best I've ever encountered. We will not leave home without it, that's for sure.

Headed to Boston tomorrow ! http://www.crutchphotography.com/blog/2013/7/headed-to-boston-tomorrow Well, Pete and I, are off again tomorrow morning, for Boston and the bay area. We plan to stop at Boston Harbor, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket Island, Cape Cod National Seashore and some points north including Gloucester and Rockport. We will no doubt be photographing lighthouses and fishing villages. We plan to drive straight through, leaving a 4:00 am and hopefully in the area near Boston by 8:00pm. Makes for a long day, but we will be get to start taking pics Wednesday AM if everything goes to plan. I will be posting photos and comments as we travel and more when we finally get there and start taking pics. If anyone knows of a place we should not miss, please let me know. We will be in the area for 7 days and will return July 31st.

The Story Behind the Photo ! http://www.crutchphotography.com/blog/2013/4/the-story St. Joseph Lighthouse I was in Michigan in July, 2009 looking for lighthouses. Little did I realize that Michigan has more lighthouses than any state in the union. I found this little jewel along the way. Looking for a different prospective, I walked all the way out to the end and looking back, this the shot I was looking for. What a gorgeous day ! Unfortunately, I had left the tripod in the vehicle, because of the long walk, so I hand held this shot using a Canon 5D with a wide 16mm lens. Shooting at F7.1 at 1/400 second, with an ISO of 100. Of all my lighthouse photos that year, this is my favorite. This moment occured on July 23, 2009 at 2:03 in the afternoon. Comments welcome!
